A small Eclipse with a Big Effect

Partial Solar Eclipse
30th April 2022
Maximum Eclipse at 20:41 UTC/GMT; 21:41 BST
13:41 EAST (Easter Island Standard Time) / 15:41 CLT (Chile Standard Time)
12:41 PDT (Pacific Daylight Time)

On 30th April, there will be a Partial Solar Eclipse over the South Pacific, which will be visible over Rapa Nui / Easter Island and over much of South America.

Whilst it is only a partial eclipse, there are some very powerful planetary clusters, or multiple conjunctions, known as “stelliums”, which will give the Eclipse much intensity.

The Sun and Moon will be conjunct Uranus in Taurus, forming a little “Eye” or “Ear” pattern, with a (60º) sextile to Mars in Pisces and with (30º) semi-sextiles from Sun – Moon – Uranus and from Mars to Chiron in Taurus:

This apparently insignificant little figure is about allowing the window of the Eclipse to bring insight and understanding about how to act (Mars) in order to bring about healing (Chiron) to many situations. Uranus conjunct the Sun and Moon requires us to let go of our opinions, prejudices and any sense of self-righteousness in order to allow us to perceive things clearly and unclouded by our egos. Mars in Pisces is about surrendering to allow right action to flow through us from the Universe, rather than us deciding to act from the ego or from our place of personal wounding. If we can master this, then this approach can bring about healing - starting with ourselves (Chiron is in self-centred Aries). What is being addressed for healing is the wounding that derives from our sense of separation from our spiritual Source. If we can heal this in ourselves, then it will quite naturally radiate from us out into the world and assist with the healing of others.

The dominant figure in the Eclipse chart is the large quadrilateral pattern, known as a “Telescope” or “Microscope” – depending on which end you are looking from! This suggests that we need to be able to see and understand the big picture, as well as taking into account how all the details and minutiae of our decisions can have very real unintended effects on others in the wider world.

The Telescope/Microscope pattern has Saturn conjunct Vesta in Aquarius (90º) square the Moon’s South Node; Saturn and Vesta are also (30º) semi-sextile Jupiter conjunct Venus and Neptune, which are all square Ceres; Ceres is (150º) quincunx the South Node, and there are (120º) trines from Ceres to Vesta – Saturn and from the South Node to Jupiter – Venus – Neptune.

Viewed from the perspective of the “telescope”, this pattern is about really seeing the big picture of our planet’s urgent needs (Ceres), especially in the light of those needs having been neglected, ignored or downplayed in the past; the green (150º) quincunx between Ceres and the South Node means that we need to find innovative and creatively intelligent ways to deal with the karma from that neglect.

Viewed from the perspective of the “microscope” pattern, it is about understanding how our own past behaviour and attitudes may have contributed towards the current situation. Vesta conjunct Saturn is reminding us of all those times when we have not listened to or followed our hearts, regarding the right way to relate to the planet and to other beings. It is important simply to acknowledge this, because if we are in denial of the part that we may have played, it will be difficult for us to embrace Neptune’s forgiveness towards ourselves and others (Venus), to let go of the past and to move forward in positive, creative ways (Jupiter).

The key to understanding this pattern is to acknowledge the microcosm of our total inter-dependence with the planet and with all beings, whilst also acknowledging the macrocosm of the planet’s inter-dependence with us, which requires us to take care of her in the right way.

A T-square is formed by the (180º) opposition between the Moon’s North and South Nodes, which are making (90º) squares to the Vesta – Saturn conjunction in Aquarius.

The Moon’s Nodes hold the balance between us getting stuck in fear, guilt, shame or blame about the past or, by acknowledging and releasing the power locked up in those stuck energies, using them creatively to move forward and bring about positive change. As with all Solar Eclipses, we may need to confront elements of our shadow in so we can embrace and manifest the Light.

A Small Talent figure has Pluto in Capricorn (120º) trine Mercury in Gemini, with (60º) sextiles to Jupiter conjunct Venus and Neptune in Pisces.

This pattern is about consciously acknowledging and appreciating the often unseen potentials for change, being generated by our collective expressions of acceptance, forgiveness and unconditional love for one other, for all beings and for the planet herself.
